Softball Fields
posted 05/03/2013
Hello Softball Families!

I'm reaching out to you for your help.  This Saturday 5/4/13 we are having material dropped on each of the softball fields (SB1 and SB2) to help get the fields in better shape.  We noticed after the last rain storm we had last week that we still have a few puddles and muddy areas.  We also need to fix up homeplate on SB1 and adjust the pitching mound on SB2.
Date: Saturday, May 4th
Time: anytime after 1:00 PM
Location: Whitman Middle School Softball Fields - SB1 and SB2

Even if you can only put in 30 minutes of your time I would greatly appreciate it plus I know the girls would too!  Every little bit will help to get this big project done.

If you can come down any time after 1pm on Saturday (the material should be delivered by then) and spend some time with us raking and spreading the dirt that would be great! We have to try to get it finished Saturday because we have games beginning at 9am on Sunday.

If you have a shovel, rake or wheel barrel that you can bring too that would be helpful so we can have everyone doing something.  With the help of Jeff Riley and Bill Hamilton giving us direction we should be able to get this all accomplished.

Thank you!  Hope to see you anytime after 1pm and up until it gets dark!!
Please call me if you have any questions.

WBSA Striking Out Hunger posted 04/07/2013
Whitman Food Pantry Opening Day Food Drive
Saturday, April 13th

Dear Parents and Players;

This year, WBSA is partnering with the Whitman Food Pantry to help strike out hunger in Whitman. In these tough economic times, there are over 600 children in Whitman whose families participate in the food program. We can make a difference by raising awareness within the community.

Each WBSA team is being challenged to fill two bags of groceries to help strike out hunger in Whitman. The bags will be provided to each team coach. Each player, who participates by donating a canned good, will receive a raffle ticket from their coach (tickets to be provided) for three raffle prizes; $100, $60 and $40 gift cards to Dick’s Sporting Goods. The drawing will be held during the Opening Day Ceremony.

The food pantry suggests donated items such as tuna fish, soup, peanut butter, canned vegetables, jelly, macaroni and cheese and canned fruit.

The food donation bags will be collected on Parade Day, Saturday, April 13th, in the parking lot of the Holy Ghost Church. There will be a truck set up next to the soda donation truck for the food bag collection. The best way to start collecting is at your practices prior to the parade. Assigning a team parent to this task could be helpful.

WBSA and the Board of Directors are personally asking each coach and team to help strike out hunger in Whitman. This is a great opportunity for the players to give back to the Whitman community. Please support this cause and show your commitment to the community who gives so much to WBSA.
